Catnip, catmint - Nepeta cataria
Nepeta cataria (also known as catnip, catswort, or catmint) is a plant in the Lamiaceae family that is native to much of Asia and Europe, and is widely naturalized elsewhere. The common names can also be used to refer to the Nepeta genus as a whole. Technically catnip is a type of catmint plant, however more attractive to felines than the more decorative cultivars referred to as catmint.
